you say it’s this and i say it’s THAT!

“I am a plagiarist  by title alone stuck out to me. When I first saw the title, I told myself I had to read this. Why? because plagiarism is such a big thing in school and such a harsh punishment comes from it and the act in itself is looked at so negatively. Granted, it’s not morally right but now and days, what exactly is morally right? I feel like everyone at some point has plagiarized in their life. While reading this, I kept on looking forward to what was coming next and unlike other short pieces, this kept me interested.

It sucked how the Harvard (mind you this is a prestigious school) student got accused of plagiarizing and sued. Granted on one side he was in the wrong but then again on the other side, I can’t help but to ask, can you blame him? After all, he didn’t put forth the exact same work, which to me, is what I think of when I think of plagiarizing.  If it’s not the exact same thing, I look at it as a recreation or a different spin to the same thing. I mentioned in another blog that sometimes when it comes to making an art piece, you can use the same idea as what you previously saw but you had to make your own creation from a different angle. That’s exactly what it is, coming at the same idea from a different perspective. When I wrote that blog and even now, I don’t see how that can be labeled as plagiarism  If that is the case, wouldn’t everyone in our program be guilty of this? I’m just saying.
