I knew there was a reason why I loved the iPhone

I knew there was a reason why I loved my iPhone, but I couldn’t articulate it as well as Edward Tufte.

I certainty wouldn’t have used the term “computer administrative debris”, but it works.

“Computer administrative debris reduces information resolution and steals content space away from the user,” Tufte said. “The iPhone brilliantly surprises much administrative debris.”

When he brought up The New York Times website, he said the content is the interface. Not the computer administrative debris a.k.a. “the trash.”

Another nugget of wisdom: “If the information is in chaos, don’t throw out the information. Fix the design.”

Genius, I tell you.

So I’ll keep this mind while designing the alarm clock app. I not only have to provide good content, but also a great design that is user-friendly and throw out “the trash.”
