Interactive Media students attended the annual Converge South conference in Greensboro, NC on Friday. The conference is a one day meet up for Triad professionals and students in the areas of business, creativity, and technology. With four tracks, 101, 201, 301, and non-profit, conference goes got to choose informational sessions that met their interests and skill levels. Many of the iMedia students “geeked-out” in the 301 sessions about SEO and responsive design. My favorite session was the responsive design talk with Erik Fadiman. He talked primarily about the importance of “future-friendly” design, and how responsive websites will not only make our websites efficiently editable for today’s devices, but also better prepared for the devices of tomorrow. Erik showed us how to create media queries for with CSS3 and test our responsive changes through tester websites that simulate different devices sizes.
From here on out we will be designing responsive websites in our coding class. I can’t wait!
