Who would have ever known that you could tell so much in such a short period of time. Thus…. short films! I can tell, just from watching these films that our upcoming project is about to be fun and interesting. I watched a couple of these short films and noticed more in that short period of time than i normally would with a regular length video.
In the embrace video with the couple holding each other, I liked how the director had close ups of their face to show the emotion and how serious the upcoming event was. The talking was limited and you hear sniffles but that just added to the story line. With the soldier video, the camera cutting back and forth between the mother and the soldier with the soldier talking and not getting a response told the whole story to me. I figured out what was going on in the first couple of seconds. I think the lighting in both videos were appropriate as it helped with the somber tone that both videos were trying to go for. The video cutting back and forth between the two main characters in both videos was also interesting. Another thing that both videos shared, in my opinion was the limited dialogue and when the dialogue was taking place, the people were short with their words or came off as if they was searching for words to say, which went along with what the director was trying to convey. Just with those two films, there was alot in common and while they both were under five minutes, they conveyed so much, so much that if someone was serious, could turn out to be a two hour movie.
Finally I’ve found something that i’m interested in. Can’t wait to start working on this short film project.
