I shed a single tear of pure blood watching this.

I have no idea what I just watched, short of my own death. Pica Towers is equal parts disturbing and hilarious. I’m not really going to get into the content of the series, because I have no effing clue what the point of it all is, but I still think there’s a lot that can be taken away from this series design-wise.

The aesthetic of the show is great. All the cute little jelly bean people in their weird fetishist costumes were delightful and offputting at the same time. Kind of like going to a carnival. You like it, but at the same time you’re really looking forward to taking a shower when you get home.

I like the subtlety of the show. There was so much crammed into each second, but the incautious eye doesn’t notice these things. Little things like shadows and canes and spots on the wall were unnoticeable at first, but the more I watched them (including in class) the more that stuff popped out at me.

I’m very curious to know how he made it. I imagine he used Maya or some other 3D software. Still, the whole of it was very obviously well done. I’m not sure I’d ever borrow the aesthetic of this show, but I’m sure going to steal the subtlety in storytelling from him.
