Chip Kidd: Drink Higher Quality Liquor

I enjoyed watching 30 Conversations on Design. I loved the short bursts of information you received from each designer. While many of them were inspiring, Chip Kidd is my favorite.

Chip Kidd cracks me up. I have been a fan since I first saw his David Sedaris book covers. Kidd is able to create amazing book covers, that all look so different, but you still know they are his.

In his 30 Conservations on Design interview, he talks about creating a sense of identity, which is exactly what he has done. You can recognized his work, even if each piece looks different.

He speaks of designers to be credited for their work, that way they won’t drink. And when you are recognized for you work and make more money, you can continue to drink, but you are able to drink better liquor. While this all seems funny, he basically wants designers to take themselves seriously, get credit for your work and be inspired by the world around you. And with that you can drink higher quality liquor.
