Rick Morris: What I learned from him

Rick Morris seems to be a interesting addition to this series. He is first and foremost a graphic designer that found the unique possibilities of motion design. In designing his reel that he often shows potential clients he offers several helpful tips on landing a gig.

The first of which is to make sure that your design has a common thread. He made it clear that audio accompaniment was vital as well as displaying a variety of visual accomplishments, thereby making diverse subjects familiarity to the viewer. I especially like his rotating imagery segment used for the DVD interface of a Sopranos season. It definitely showed the sophistication that this developer has in his portfolio.

What I took even more to heart was how Morris stated that in order to garner a client’s attention the producer should never turn anything down, no matter how far it is from their own interests. It can open several unexpected doors.  I will take this advice into consideration for the remainder of this year.
