Title sequences

Fight Club:

The typography in Fight Club is slanted and bold.  The bold font conveys the violent nature of the film.  I like how some of the letters are not totally closed off.  The way in which the bold letters disappear into clouds with the first name falling behing and the last name moving forward makes the letters blend well with the synaptic animation.

Coraline:

The typography in the beginning of the title sequence appears to be stitched.  The stitched types ties in nicely with the subject matter of the doll.  The typography used later on is pretty and delicate looking.  Just before fading away, the pretty type shifts into misalignment.  The shift communicates that something that something is not quite right in Coraline’s world.  The typographic design sets the stage for the movie.

Honey, I Blew Up the Kid:

The title sequence is all done in playful bubble letters reminiscent of a child’s hand-drawn design.  In the beginning, the letters blow up like a balloon.  This typographic animation set the playful tone of the film.
