So I wasn’t expecting that. Each of the films is really dark and creepy. The strangest part about the whole aesthetic is that the characters look so cute. The characters remind me of WALL-E. Cute little WALL-E, buzzin around. And then BOOM, the story line is more along the lines of the movie Saw; which is not cute at all. The combination of cute animated characters with a twisted story line sets an especially creepy and unsettling tone.
The audio is also very important in setting the tone. The audio was especially effective on the creepiness scale in the video about the pizza delivery. The sound coming from the car juxtaposed a happy, care-free experience with the gravity of an unexpected death. The variety of shots with point of view shots and wide shots also help to effectively set the tone for the stories.
