I am very thankful that we discussed this topic in class, otherwise I would have been lost and little confused while reading Ethan Marcotte’s “Responsive Web Design.” As intimidating as it is, the article and it’s main content is really important to understand for web design for all media tablets and devices.
As someone who is addicted to the internet (YouTube in particular), I am always constantly going on the web. Most of the time it’s on a computer, but when that’s not handy I go to the next best thing. Like my IPhone or IPad or Windows Tablet. And I would be lying if I didn’t say I was annoyed when a site I was looking at wasn’t fit exactly for the screen of a phone or tablet. It reminds me that our generation is always evolving in terms of technology and that we will always be looking for information in multiple forms of media and electronics. So we as web designers must do our part to provide “options,” if you may, on how people can view your site from different electronics.
AGAIN, as I have stated many times in the past, I am a beginner with this. So it is hard enough for me to focus on one concept along with trying to use HTML5 with CSS3 the right way. Then there’s lighbox and javascript that I want to use but still haven’t figured out yet. Now with this information on how to make your site flexible and responsive to other electronics and media is just the topping of this whole confusion of Web Design. But that’s why we are learning this. To understand everything better and at least get the main points down, before we go out and test everything ourselves. So, may be very confused now. But I’ve very thankful as well that I understand it all a little better now.
