Before I delve into the intricacies of the article “Yes, You Can Use HTML 5 Today” by Bruce Lawson, I would just like to point out something I have noticed in all of these articles. All of the respective authors for these various pieces have come across as very opinioned. I find this to be very funny. At one point in Lawson’s article he quotes Tommy Olsson “an abomination … it mocks everything I consider important on the Web.” In my opinion this quote is absolutely hysterical, how someone could take the creation HTML 5 as such a personal offense is a mystery to me.
Anyway to get back to the actual context of the article HTML 5 offers several improvements over the previous HTML 4. For example now there are a host of new structural tags such as header, footer, nav, article, section and so forth that allow a markup for various coding requirements.
Basically HTML 5 places on emphasis on web application development with plenty of new features that are an upgrade over the previous HTML 4.
