As my previous classmates have said, HTML 5 certainly seems like it’ll be easy to pick up. Bruce Lawson’s Yes, You Can Use HTML5 had me at hello. Well, if hello was the fact that you no longer have to use div for the header, navigation, section, articles and footer.
Like what Kyle said, HTML 5 seems to simplify the entire process, having said that, I still feel out of my element reading Lawson’s article. The way these web publishers write, whether it is for beginners or their peers can go over my heads. It’s simply the jargon they use and my lack of confidence.
However, I did understand that HTML5 will simplify the overall structure. It offers more flexibility with the designer being able to use tags like header and footer multiple times. This should allow designers to move their content around a page more easily and separate it into a cohesive manner.
Overall, I’m excited to try out HTML5. I can read as much as I can about HTML5 or any of the other articles, but until I try it, I won’t know if I actually understand it or not. At the least it seems like an improvement over HTML.
