After borwsing the site, reading the Story of Stuff’s project and what they’re all about, I watched the video called “Story of Broke.” I found the way this story was presented visually highly relatable to our class. The story – about building a better future with government money – is mainly a cartoon movie with fun stick figure characters. The voice-over and visuals synchronise perfectly and help to tell the story. As well as the voice-over, cartoon and women presenting the short movie, there are notes at the bottom of the film that correspond with what the woman is talking about. These notes give added detail to support the information. This added information helps the reader/viewer understand the topic more in depth.
Overall I thought this site was very clever and highly executed. The layout is easy to navigate, the content is worded in a way that is simple to read and understand, the colors work well with what is being said. The site flows smoothly and get its point across effectively and efficiently without compromising its aesthetic value. At face value the site is intriguing because its content and images are simple. The content in this site is valuable.
