Associate Director, Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, Washington University in St. Louis

The Associate Director will serve as chief of staff at the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, working closely with the Director to advance the institute’s mission. This position will oversee institute operations to ensure high quality programs, services, and communications for all campus and community stakeholders; efficient administrative processes; and the operationalization and evaluation of institute strategies. The Associate Director will provide key leadership to the institute’s student engagement team and operations team, serve as a central resource for all institute staff, lead strategic initiatives, and support the institute’s development and stewardship efforts.

They are seeking applicants with strong leadership/management experience in higher education from a broad range of backgrounds.

Join our team: now recruiting Program Coordinator, VISTA Leaders, and NC Hunger Corps VISTAs

NC Campus Compact is currently recruiting to fill multiple positions affiliated with our office.

Our VISTA Program Coordinator is a full-time (40-hr/week) position working out of the NC Campus Compact office at Elon University. This grant-funded position is considered an Elon employee, with $40,000 annual salary plus benefits. The program coordinator manages all aspects of the Compact’s 25+ member AmeriCorps VISTA program, including grants management, host site development, and member recruitment and support. The program coordinator will also supervise the Compact’s two VISTA Leaders. Experience with AmeriCorps VISTA and higher education service-learning/ community engagement is preferred. Two AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders will support member recruitment, professional development, and performance measurement for the NC Afterschool Corps and NC Hunger Corps. All VISTA Leader candidates MUST HAVE PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED a full term of full-time service with any AmeriCorps program or with Peace Corps. We hope to recruit two outstanding VISTA Leaders to begin a year of service in November or December. VISTA Leaders earn a living stipend of approximately $1226/month. The Compact offers a modest housing stipend. Finally, we are beginning recruitment to fill 10 AmeriCorps VISTA member positions with our new NC Hunger Corps project. These AmeriCorps VISTA members will serve with campus or community host sites across the state to develop the capacity of campus or community-based programs that provide hunger relief, nutrition education, or access to healthy foods. AmeriCorps VISTA members in North Carolina earn a living stipend of approximately $1025/month. AmeriCorps VISTA Leaders (2), NC Campus Compact

North Carolina Campus Compact is currently recruiting to fill TWO AmeriCorps VISTA Leader positions. Our VISTA Leaders will support 25 full-time VISTA members serving with our NC Afterschool Corps and NC Hunger Corps.

The NC Afterschool Corps & NC Hunger Corps are teams of AmeriCorps VISTA members who are placed at a college, university, or community-based organization to build the capacity of programs that serve low-income people AND connect colleges and universities to their communities. NC Afterschool Corps members support K-12 afterschool programs, while Hunger Corps members support on- or off-campus hunger relief programs, including those assisting low-income or disadvantaged college students and staff.

The VISTA Leaders serve in the NC Campus Compact state office located at Elon University in Elon, NC.

Duties of the VISTA Leader include: providing program and member support, leading member recruitment, monitoring member performance and activity logs, and planning professional development training and events.

All VISTA Leader candidates MUST HAVE PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED a full term of full-time service with any AmeriCorps program or with Peace Corps. Strong candidates will have a background in youth development or hunger relief, as well as a passion for VISTA’s poverty-fighting mission, knowledge of VISTA rules and guidelines, and a commitment to strengthening national service. Familiarity with concepts and modes of higher education civic and community engagement – including service-learning, community-based research, and volunteerism – is preferred.

VISTA Leaders serve full-time for 1 year. Standard VISTA Leader benefits include: bi-weekly living allowance ($14,713/year), settling-in bonus (if eligible), choice of end-of-service education award ($6,000) or cash stipend ($3,000), healthcare benefits (not insurance), and childcare assistance (if eligible).  NC Campus Compact also provides a professional development allowance, monthly housing support ($200/month, if eligible), Elon University parking pass, in-service travel reimbursement, and access to university facilities and events.

Program Manager, Center for Civic Engagement, Nazareth College

The Program Manager is an integral member of the Center for Civic Engagement team which is housed within the Academic Affairs division at Nazareth College. This Center responds to local and global community identified needs in reciprocal ways by way of episodic and sustained community-based partnerships that are both curricular and co-curricular. Civic engagement at Nazareth is one form of experiential learning, a hallmark of the Nazareth education. Because of its rich commitment to civic engagement, Nazareth has received national recognition for its commitment to civic engagement and community outcomes.

As a member of the Center for Civic Engagement’s team, the Program Manager oversees three high impact co-curricular service programs: (1) an alternative break program that is part of the national Break Away organization; (2) an on-campus tutoring program for urban high school students; and (3) a federal community service work study program that provides over 60 students an opportunity to serve the Rochester community on a daily basis. Within each of these programs and other initiatives, the Program Manager ensures opportunities for student growth around areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural competency, leadership and professional skill development.
