Hoi An tourist driven economy

In Hoi An, our group was able to see a tourist driven economy. As I took the venture of having some articles of clothing made I could not help but notice the deep and personal amount of work they put into making sure that the clothing fit my needs. Their customer service far surpassed anything I have ever found in the United States. More importantly, the goods were as nice if not better than what I would get from a big time manufacturer. I was able to get a suit, a pair of pajamas, 3 shirts, 2 pairs of dress pants, and a vest all tailored to me for less than 300 USD. This is amazing considering that the type of service we received would have been nearly 6 times as expensive in the United States. In addition, In the United States they would not get it to you over night and you would have to wait for the clothing to be tailored for months. In a town that is driven by the tourist market I speculate that they must have to do this for most patrons. Not only must they give good wears at a low cost but they do so effectively and in a short period of time.  Therefore, while we venture to Ho Chi Minh city, I cant help but feel that in leaving Hoi An I had effectively spent my time and money investing in their textile industry.
