Halong Bay

I surely won’t be the only one to blog about this, but I feel that it is necessary. We just returned from a two day visit to Halong Bay, which was by far the most incredible place I have ever been. When we first boarded the ship, the entire group was overcome with just how cool the boat and surrounding area was. We walked down the hallway of the massive wooden ship to our room, which featured a balcony looking out to the water. We ate lunch as a group on board as we set off, with the towering islands passing by. It seemed like there were thousands of them. Myself, Adam, Sean and roommate Brian ate as quickly as possible and ran up to the top deck. Seeing as we are all from the northeast, the prospect of warm sun was too good to wait for. We quickly changed clothes and headed for the “bronze deck” as we called it. Next thing we knew our entire group was up there taking in the sights and sun-rays. That afternoon we visited a fishing village, and on the way back to the larger boat, saw some of the most incredible views in the world. After a group reflection we had dinner and went to bed.

The next morning, a group of us visited an island for a hike and swim. We even played some beach soccer with Dr. Lilly and our guide Vu before heading back to the ship to head back to the city. Needless to say it was very hard to leave.
