Assistant Director for Community Engagement, University of Oregon

The Holden Center is looking for a passionate educator committed to engaging University of Oregon students in service and social change. The Assistant Director for Community Engagement will play a leading role in the creative design and implementation of intentionally crafted and assessed experiences that assist students in personal growth, critical reflection, and community development. Ultimately, this person will be compelled by the prospect of preparing students for a lifetime of civic engagement and transformative social action.

At the Holden Center, leadership development, community engagement, and social innovation frame our programmatic efforts. The Assistant Director for Community Engagement will help ensure that UO students have the opportunity to take on leadership roles in thoughtfully organized service experiences—experiences that help integrate their classroom learning with reflection, identity development, discussion and connection to the community. This position will embody our collective responsibility to help students acquire the necessary information, skills, and desire to be engaged citizens who can meet not only today’s social and economic challenges, but who will also work to eradicate the root causes of inequity and injustice.
