Civic Engagement Coordinator, Marietta College

The Civic Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing campus service, social justice, and service-learning based experiential education opportunities that promote meaningful learning and connections with local, national, and international communities. The position is supervised by the Director of the Office of Civic Engagement (OCE). The Civic Engagement Coordinator will perform a variety of duties including managing co-curricular service programs such as days of service and ongoing service placements; performing extensive and continual community outreach to foster strong connections with community partners; advising student service organizations; conducting leadership development trainings for student
leaders in service; promoting social justice dialogues on campus and in the community; organizing and leading domestic and international Alternative Break trips; and supervising student hourly staff and volunteers.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

•             Bachelor’s degree in related field.
•             One year of professional experience; graduate work, graduate assistantship, or relevant internship experience may be used as a substitution for professional experience.
•             Demonstrated experience working or volunteering with non-profit organizations.
•             Commitment to student development and cultivating social responsibility with regard to service and civic engagement.
•             Ability to coordinate multiple projects at once while managing time and logistics.
•             Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•             Desire to work in a collaborative and creative environment.

Desired Qualifications:

•             Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, psychology, sociology, or other related field.
•             One to five years professional experience working within college service-learning programs, social justice programming, and/or working with community organizations.
•             Experience in program assessment and evaluation.
•             Experience managing large amounts of data including gathering and tracking program participation and evaluation data.
