I’m Matt Warman, a second-year Elon Law student. I grew up splitting time between Atlanta, and Chicago, where I earned my undergraduate degree from DePaul University. Before enrolling in law school, I worked in hospitality management, including managing a small business. An entrepreneur at heart, I aspire to start my own business. Therefore, I am attending law school to use my legal knowledge and experience to assist others in achieving their goals and my own.

Through internships, residency, and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic, Elon Law has allowed me to work under practicing lawyers and experienced faculty. These opportunities give Elon Law students the unique ability to show potential employers practical legal experience directly out of school.

Every Friday this winter, I will be working at the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic, assisting entrepreneurs with business entity formation, trademark registration, copyright infringement, and other general legal business concerns. I am excited for the chance to meet entrepreneurs in the community and learn more about how I can help their small businesses set themselves up for success.

My name is Faisal Sulman, and I grew up in High Point, North Carolina. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. I’m a Muslim first-generation college and law student that aspires to bring an alternative perspective to the predominately affluent legal field. I’m currently serving as the Student Bar Association President at Elon. In addition to being a law student, I am also an MBA candidate at Elon’s Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.

The North Carolina Bar Association Minorities in the Profession Committee selected me to intern at IQVIA over the summer, as a part of their in-house counsel and contracts team. IQVIA is a Fortune 500 corporation and the largest clinical research organization in the world, providing complete clinical and data analytics services for all major pharmaceutical companies in over 100 countries. I reviewed various client documents, and clinical trial agreements. I communicated my findings with IQVIA’s legal department and other cross-functional corporate teams throughout the United States.

I’m very excited to be part of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic because I can further develop the skills needed to represent clients successfully and ethically once I practice as a lawyer. I know the struggle of navigating the legal field as a small business. Growing up, I would try to help my father, which could be challenging at times. I see this as an opportunity to give back to the community by providing business-related legal services to entrepreneurs and small business owners who would not otherwise afford legal representation.
