To say that we’re all excited about our upcoming trip to South Africa would be the understatement of the year. Our pre-departure orientations were excellent and informative. We focused on preparing students for their South African experience by connecting what they would encounter there with the historical, cultural, and social factors that affect African-Americans in the United States. Students have been particularlu moved by some of those experiences, as you can read in Rebecca’s and Danielle’s posts on the blog.

We’ve also received very positive feedback about the Adopt-a-Student program, and the work we are doing for our Global Library-Literacy Initiative. It’s not too late to send your contributions if you still want to sponsor a child’s education for a year. See the Service Learning component on the left for more information about what you need to do.

Our blog will be very busy in the coming months, so I encourage all our friends, parents, the entire Elon community, and other visitors to check back frequently, so that you can chart our progress. Also, post your comments so that we know you’re out there and hearing us.

In the meantime, have a happy ans safe holiday season.
