The scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) focuses on systematic inquiry into students’ learning. As a multidisciplinary, international, scholarly practice, SoTL involves asking research questions about learning (and often, corresponding teaching practices), using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate those questions, and going public with the outcomes of that research. The Center for Engaged Learning videos on the scholarship of teaching and learning introduce key characteristics of SoTL, focus on points of debate in the field’s history, and share emerging trends.
Additional Center for Engaged Learning videos on SoTL, engaged learning, and high-impact educational practices are available on the Center’s YouTube channel.
