Civic/Community Engagement Coordinators, Salt Lake Community College (Utah)

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) has over 60,000 students attending classes at ten locations. SLCC is the most racially and socioeconomically diverse college in the state of Utah. The Thayne Center is growing! We are currently looking to fill two coordinator positions within our office.
At the Thayne Center, we envision a world in which people’s basic needs are met and in which the values of equality and social justice are realized. We believe institutions of higher education have a responsibility to cultivate an engaged citizenry. We are therefore dedicated to empowering our students and faculty to realize they have the knowledge and skills to affect positive change in their community.
We establish capacity-building relationships with community organizations, facilitate service-learning development opportunities for faculty, and coordinate service leadership programs for students who are out to change the world.
The Two Positions are:
The first position will coordinate Civically Engaged Scholars and AmeriCorps Education Award programs for the Thayne Center for Service & Learning. Responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, management, and assessing the effectiveness of Civically Engaged Scholars and AmeriCorps at Salt Lake Community College. Learn More and Apply Here.
The Campus Community Engagement Coordinator will work to engage the broad SLCC Community, including staff, faculty, students, and administrators, in reciprocal community engagement. CCE Coordinator will be responsible for supporting SLCC’s Community Engagement Leave Benefit (CELB), Alternative Spring Break (ASB), Alternative Fall Break, and other reciprocally based immersive service experiences. This will include organizing one-time service projects, connecting students and employees to community partnership opportunities, and overseeing Alternative Break Programming; including local fall break projects in the Salt Lake Valley and a variety of spring break trips across the United States. Learn More and Apply Here.
