The Civic Engagement Coordinator will facilitate a wide range of civic learning and engagement opportunities for student empowerment. The CENTER FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENT (CCE) advances reciprocal campus-community partnerships, community capacity, and civic leadership skills in order for students to create and progress their collective visions of a better world. The Coordinator is charged with advancing a culture of civic engagement and co-curricular community-based learning on campus, specifically throughout Student Affairs and via one-time projects and programs. The Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of innovative civic engagement programming that is grounded in student development, civic development, and education theory. This position supports the Oregon State University academic mission by developing engaged, reflective citizens, creating opportunities for experiential and transformational learning, engaging in community-based practice, and supporting the institutional strategic plan centered on healthy people, planet, and economy.
Through collaboration with students, staff, faculty, and community partners the Coordinator will be responsible for growing outreach, engagement, and educational projects and efforts in order to engage Oregon State’s diverse student demographic in civic engagement activities. The Coordinator will provide supervision support to the student staff housed in the Center for Civic Engagement. In cooperation with SLI colleagues, the Coordinator will develop co-curricular civic engagement opportunities that meet the needs of the contemporary student population.
