Social Sector Research and Outreach Specialist, Cornell University (Buffalo, NY)

The ILR School and Cornell in Buffalo seek a full-time Social Sector Research and Outreach Specialist with an advanced degree for an eighteen month appointment beginning June 2017. This focus of this opportunity is on applied research and public education on community and economic development in Buffalo, NY. The primary role will be to provide content and programming for Buffalo Commons, a dynamic hub of innovative Buffalo-focused research, engaged learning and civic activity co-created as a public service by Cornell in Buffalo and the Partnership for the Public Good (PPG).

We are seeking applicants who are interested in gaining exposure in the areas of economic development, state/local government, nonprofit organizations, public policy, the social economy, regional and urban development, social entrepreneurship and triple bottom line economics.

Position Description and Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day development and management of the public information function of Buffalo Commons, coordination of research/data dissemination and public outreach, and serve as liaison for educational and community partners. Working in a team environment generate original research about Buffalo, transform current information into more interactive and publically accessible formats, serve as a community information resource, and lead workshops on technical information skills and substantive issues for community and academic audiences.

This is an 18 month term appointment expected to begin June 2017 and will run through November 2018. It is benefits eligible under Cornell University’s endowed health benefits. The position is located in ILR’s Buffalo extension office.
