Data Manager, Read Charlotte

Read Charlotte is a community initiative that unites families, educators and community partners to improve children’s literacy from birth to third grade. Housed under the Foundation For The Carolinas, Read Charlotte coordinates and aligns people, resources and data to support proven practices and programs to reach our goal of doubling the percentage of third grade students reading at grade level in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) from 39% in 2015 to 80% by 2025.

Research and data are central to Read Charlotte’s work to double third grade reading proficiency by 2025. We have identified a set of research-based community indicators that span from roughly three years of age to third grade. Community indicators measure population-level outcomes representing conditions at the community level (not at the program level). Community indicators give us a picture of how whole groups of children are progressing, on average, with key reading skills. Individual programs will be evaluated separately with a focus on how their outcomes contribute to population-level changes. Collectively, these indicators will serve as the “north star” for the entire community’s work to improve children’s literacy. We will track and measure these indicators over the next nine years from to measure progress and track the impact of our work.

In order to achieve our ambitious mission, we are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Data Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Data Manager will be part of a small team responsible for driving Read Charlotte’s work forward, in particular leading the planning, analysis, reporting, and coordination for Read Charlotte’s overall data needs and data infrastructure. This is a full-time, exempt
position.
