Academic Program Manager/LEO Adjunct Lecturer, Barger Leadership Institute, University of Michigan

The Barger Leadership Institute is dedicated to developing 21st century leaders through powerful learning experiences that engage with and reach far beyond the conventional classroom. The BLI is a place where undergraduate students learn to turn their intellectual passions and personal goals into effective action with the help of faculty, staff, alumni, and their peers. The Institute emphasizes rich leadership development programs with both curricular and co-curricular components. BLI continues to extend students’ skills by supporting study abroad, internship experiences with global reach, and student-initiated projects. The BLI has become a crossroads for the campus, offering more than 650 students from every undergraduate program at the university unique opportunities to learn to lead. We seek to continue to expand opportunities for BLI students by pursuing a diverse set of access experiences during the next academic year, both local and national. The goal of these access experiences is to expose our students to leadership in action at various levels and in a variety of fields. Ultimately, the BLI aims to teach students how to translate what they learn through a Michigan education into capable, important work in the world.
