Assistant/Associate Professor of Service Learning, Johnson University

The School of Arts & Sciences at Johnson University invites applications for a newly created
Assistant/Associate Professor of Service Learning and Faculty Director of the Service Learning Program
beginning Fall 2016. Successful candidates must possess a graduate degree in a field supported by the
University’s curriculum (Ph.D. preferred), at least three years experience directing a service learning program, evidence of teaching excellence, and a wholehearted embrace of the University’s mission, values and statement of faith.

Responsibilities include teaching twelve hours per semester, primarily in first-year service reflection groups and junior-level field research courses. This is a highly collaborative position working with faculty across the University in developing service learning courses and fostering relationships with service organizations that provide service sites for students. The Service Learning Faculty and Program Director reports to the Dean of Arts & Sciences and oversees the Coordinator of Service Learning in directing and developing service learning on both Johnson University’s Tennessee and Florida campuses. Priority will be given to candidates with experience/education in metacognitive understanding, global service learning, multi-cultural competency, and/or personal spiritual formation.
The following materials should be emailed to Gary David Stratton, Dean of the School of
Arts & Sciences, at SAS@johnsonu.edu.

Review of applications will begin in April, 2016 and will continue until the position is filled. Position is
contingent upon board approval and available funding.
