SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Supports the overall work of the Collaborative for Community Engagement, with a focus on facilitating student leadership development and providing guidance and assistance for student-run initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES (• denotes essential/primary responsibilities, o denotes secondary responsibilities) • Supervise office personnel, as well as student employees who provide support for co-curricular student organizations; work with Leadership Development Coordinators to provide streamlined and uniform procedures for the supervision of student organizations; manage the Collaborative in the event of the Director’s absence.
- Oversee implementation of and compliance to a comprehensive risk management protocol for all programs and organizations supervised by the Collaborative. • Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of civic engagement workshops, in collaboration with relevant campus and community constituents. • Engage with community organizations to actively identify volunteer and service opportunities for students, staff, and faculty. • Manage an active database of volunteer, service, and civic engagement opportunities available to students, staff, and faculty.
- Collaborate with Director, other staff, faculty, students and community partners on the development of new and existing initiatives in the domain of community engagement.
- Contribute to program evaluation, tracking, and assessment – including the preparation of formal reports and grant proposals.
- Assist the Director in development and oversight of Community-Based Research (CBR) and Community Based Learning (CBL) programs.
- Work with interns to provide ongoing support, supervision, and oversight for projects and programs during the summer months.
- Coordinate office events such as the annual service awards banquet and other office awards. • Assist the Director in any potential fundraising efforts, along with maintaining relationships with donors and the Offices of Development and Advancement.
- Assist in public relations and communication efforts to showcase the Collaborative’s and related community-engaged work at Colorado College o Support and contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity at Colorado College and work effectively with the many constituencies in a college environment.
o Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
o Act in a socially responsible manner and model environmental sustainability by exercising financial prudence, using college resources wisely, and supporting ecological initiatives and innovation.
o Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in related discipline, plus 3 years of related experience in supervising student groups, community-based research and learning, and community organizing; valid driver’s license and insurable; proficient with computer software programs such as MS Office and Outlook; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; excellent organizational, collaboration and customer service skills; knowledge of community organizing and social justice issues; ability to operate standard office equipment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency conducting and training others on tools such as needs assessment, impact assessment, risk management, and social network analysis; proficient in Spanish.
