Executive Director, Engaged Cornell, Cornell University

Engaged Cornell – a groundbreaking, $150 million, 10-year initiative to establish community engagement and real-world learning experiences as the hallmark of the Cornell undergraduate experience – was launched on October 6. A goal of the initiative is to empower Cornell students to become active citizens and to tackle critical challenges by participating in hands-on, practical learning experiences in communities at home and around the world. Engaged Cornell will create a new model and direction for higher education – one in which public engagement is deeply ingrained, fully institutionalized and effectively taught and implemented.

Key Responsibilities:
Based in Ithaca, N.Y., and reporting to the Vice Provost, the Executive Director of Engaged Cornell is responsible for providing senior level leadership and planning, and developing strategies in support of program goals to shape a wide range of projects and initiatives in community engagement. The Executive Director will advise the Vice Provost and Engaged Cornell Executive Committee on key issues, provide recommendations for strategic planning, and oversee coordination, analysis and reporting for this growing set of activities.

Core Qualifications:
We need an innovative leader, active collaborator, and seasoned administrator who will develop and implement strategies to bring high-impact practices and community-engaged learning opportunities to students, faculty and staff through building a wide-range of collaborations and partnerships with diverse stakeholders in the local, national and global arenas. Required
• Master’s degree with 5-7 years relevant, progressive experience preferably in one of the following areas: higher education or non-profit administration, organizational development, and/or community engagement; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Learn More
