Director of Student Engagement, Brevard College

This is an exempt salaried position reporting to the Vice President for Student Life.   Provides administrative oversight over student activities/programs, multicultural and service initiatives, and campus and outdoor recreation programs (intramurals, club sports, and campus recreation).  This is a required live-on position that will serve in an on-call role related to the Dean’s On-Call rotation.

A Bachelor’s degree in related field required;  Master’s Degree in Student Affairs Administration preferred; experience working in student affairs; experience in advising programming boards, clubs; working with service programming initiatives; experience with student leadership initiatives and programs; event management experience; and experience in student activities. Person in this position should possess a competence of student activities and student development theory; have good communication skills; and experience working with multiple constituencies.

Essential Functions: (in order of priority):

Recruits, develops, trains, evaluates, and supervises student support staff ensuring efficient operations and programming, and ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards, and laws.

Coordinates (with the Director of Residence Life) the community development portion of Residence Life training.

Advises Campus Activities Board while having direct oversight of student activity programs/events and contract negotiations related to these events.

Carries out comprehensive student activities calendar of events through collaboration with various campus constituents

Carries out comprehensive campus intramural and outdoor recreation calendar in conjunction with student clubs and WLEE

Maintains event calendar (both online and print), promoting events, and managing social media outlets.

Collaborates and/or coordinates major events weekends and off campus events

Maintains responsible stewardship of resources (budget, supplies, etc.)

Assesses all programs and services related to community engagement, student activities/programming and campus and outdoor recreation

Assists in creating and implementing retention programs on campus and in the residence halls

Serves in the Dean’s “on-call” rotation schedule

Performs other duties as assigned by the VP/Dean for Students

Supervises the Director of Residence Life, student staff (CAB Managers, Intramurals, and Outdoor Coordinators), interns, and work study students.
