Director of Development and Communications, Project on Civic Reflection

Since its inception in 1998, the Project on Civic Reflection (soon to be the Center for Civic Reflection) has fostered the practice of reflective discussion in order to help people consider the beliefs and values that underlie their commitments—leading to clarity about their work, stronger community, and more committed, effective action. The Project on Civic Reflection (PCR) trains and coaches facilitators across the country; leads community, campus, and workplace discussions; creates books, online resources, and toolkits; consults on program development; and makes the case for thoughtful, open-ended discussion as an essential part of engaged activity. PCR’s expansive partner list includes national service agencies (such as AmeriCorps and Campus Compact), cultural organizations (such as Illinois Humanities Council and Chicago Cultural Alliance), palliative and hospice care teams, universities and more.

The Director of Development and Communications will lead the Project on Civic Reflection development efforts in close collaboration with colleagues, with a primary focus on creation and implementation of a strategic plan to expand the Project on Civic Reflection’s support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and fee-for-service partners.

In addition, this position will lead the development of an integrated communications strategy; design and manage a schedule for PCR’s development and communications plan; identify, track and cultivate PCR partners; work in close collaboration with PCR’s leadership team; develop a strong grasp of reflective discussion – its goals, impact, methods, and audiences; and communicate regularly and clearly with colleagues in Chicago and Valparaiso offices about goals, needs, and timelines.
