NC Campus Compact Announces Speakers for the 2011 Student Conference

NC Campus Compact is hosting its 9th annual Student Conference at Wake Forest University on Saturday, November 12, 2011.  College students from across the state will gather to share their best practices related to community engagement.  This year’s Conference is placing a special emphasis on inviting students – from community colleges, independent colleges and universities, and UNC schools – to dedicate their volunteerism and passion to addressing some of North Carolina’s most pressing challenges.

Throughout the morning, expert panelists, workshop presenters, and speakers will deepen attendees’ understanding of North Carolina’s most pressing issues.  These experts include:  Amy R. Mack, President/CEO, Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Inc.; Dr. Nigel Alston, Executive Director for Marketing, Alumni and Community Relations, Winston-Salem State University; Bud Berro, Piedmont Regional Director, Office of the Governor; Justin Kang, Youth and Campus Organizer, Opportunity Nation;
and Alexandra F. Sirota, Director, NC Budget and Tax Center. In the afternoon, the Conference will feature student-led workshop presentations and a kick off to the Compact’s statewide challenge to end hunger!

The deadline for Conference registration and workshop submission is Thursday, October 13th. To register, submit  a workshop proposal, or find out more information about the 2011 Student Conference click here.
