“Good things come in small packages.” The same can be said for businesses. The title of “entrepreneur” is spreading like wildfire as more and more people hop on the small business/start-up train. So, how can you turn your amazing ideas for your small business into a roaring success?
Bethenny Frankel, founder of SkinnyGirl (a pre-packaged low-calorie margarita), shared some of her tips for small business owners at the Small Business Playbook virtual summit in August of this year. Frankel emphasizes that good ideas are only the beginning. Drive and motivation are what get you to the finish line. It is people with drive, determination, passion, and an unstoppable nature about them that hold the keys to success.
Plenty of people can come up with a good idea, but not as many can claim the work ethic necessary to turn that good idea into a booming business model. In addition to work ethic, “personal investment and authenticity are essential pieces in a successful entrepreneurial venture.” Because of that, the line between business and personal life becomes increasingly blurred, specially with the rise of remote work as a result of the pandemic. Personal decisions will affect your business and business decisions will affect your personal life. However, even amidst the chaos of change and evolution, it is essential to stay grounded and remember your core mission.
What happens when you and your business feel stagnant and stuck in the mud? Frankel advises focusing on your own needs and interests and utilizing those to propel your work forward. Your business “has to come from within. What really speaks to you, it’s likely something that speaks to many people.” Frankel stated.
