Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Service-Learning, University of South Carolina

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Service-Learning works as a member of the Office of Student Engagement to research, develop, implement, and assess initiatives to support and enhance the practice of service-learning and community engagement at the University of South Carolina. The Assistant Director collaborates with a variety of stakeholders, campus partners, academic units, and local non-profits to enhance student learning and engagement. The position requires someone with strong written and oral communication skills, knowledge of teaching pedagogy and student development theory, the ability to work collaboratively, and an understanding of the complexities of higher education administration. The Assistant Director is supervised by the Director of Student Engagement, located in the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support at the University of South Carolina. The Office of Student Engagement’s mission is to encourage students to engage in learning without limits both within and beyond the classroom. Through partnerships with academic and student affairs units, the Office fosters integrative learning and assists students in connecting to University resources and programs. The Office coordinates several high-impact areas including Service-Learning, Domestic Study Away, the Sophomore-Year Experience along with other engagement research and initiatives. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in higher education or a related field and 5 years of professional experience. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply at http://hr.sc.edu.
