Program Director, Tufts Innovation Institute, Tufts University

The Tufts Innovation Institute (TII) is a thematic institute broadly reaching the all three Tufts campuses in an effort to develop and promoted interdisciplinary research. TII was established to harness the expertise, experience, and ingenuity that exist at tufts university and to provide the environment necessary to take a global lead in uncovering the best, most creative solutions to the world’s most difficult problems. TII brings an exciting startup approach to programs and projects. TII’s goal is to be both innovative and integral to tufts. TII will establish a legacy of successful, impactful outcomes for multi-campus multi-disciplinary holistic projects. It will establish a new way for faculty to work together. TII will be at the leading edge of education, research, and impact.

In the startup phase, this selected individual will play a role in shaping the organization structure and administration including developing business and operating plans and convening an Advisory Board, Steering Committee and Executive Committee. As the organization stabilizes, this individual will manage the programs finances, staff, communications, and program policies and procedures.

The Program Director designs and develops vision, goals and objectives for a university Program. S/he outlines strategy and implementation plans, designs data management systems and writes grants and proposals for continued or new funding. This individual oversees financial management of budgets, grants and contracts; manages marketing strategies, publicity and external relations; designs and delivers seminars, lectures and special events and manages staff and financial resources and represents the program to the university community and outside constituents. S/he may also oversee research, management of study subjects, data analysis and results and writes articles for publication and may manages support for students and provides counseling and advising as needed.

Basic Requirements: Master’s degree in related discipline and 8-10 years of program or project management experience OR PhD and 5 years’ experience. Must successfully complete all appropriate background checks as required.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in a related field of study.
