VirtualApps launched

Faculty, students and staff now have 24/7, on-demand access to a library of popular software from any computer, anywhere in the world with an Internet connection through VirtualApps. Currently, people must visit a particular computer lab during normal hours of operation to use some specific software. While anyone will still be able to visit labs for specific software, VirtualApps allows people with an Elon username to log in to a web-based system to access specialized software. This access gives Elon students, faculty and staff the flexibility of using the software on campus, at home and even while studying abroad.

Our initial efforts in virtualized software includes SPSS, Mathematica, Atlas TI and Adobe Design Suite Premium, which includes InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. VirtualApps is not platform specific and can be used by both Windows and Mac operating systems.

You can access VirtualApps at www.elon.edu/virtualapps and learn more on the Technology Wiki [keyword search: virtualapps].
