Preparing for Spring Semester graphicBelow, you will find information about upcoming training opportunities and other resources to help you prepare for spring courses. As always, our Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) team is available to help you develop course materials, enhance student assignments, explore technology integrations, and more as we approach the final stretch of the academic year.

Classroom Technology Orientations

  • Thursday, Feb. 4 — 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
  • Friday, Feb. 5 — 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Information Technology (IT) staff and faculty members will host a series of 25-minute, in-person orientation sessions to demonstrate the use of classroom technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain hands-on experience with web conferencing cameras and other equipment installed in more than 200 classrooms on campus. Due to physical distancing, capacities are limited to five attendees per session. Each classroom will be cleaned in between sessions. Register now to reserve your seat.

In addition, IT staff will be stationed around campus for the first two weeks of spring semester to offer quick-response troubleshooting of classroom technology. Should you require immediate assistance during your course, call the Technology Service Desk at 336-278-5200.

Long-Term Equipment Checkouts

TLT offers long-term checkout to instructors in need of audio amplification devices, USB microphones and other helpful equipment — all of which are compatible with classroom technology installations. View a list of available equipment and submit a request.

Moodle Gradebook Resources

As the spring semester draws near, now is a good time to think about how to set up your Moodle Gradebook. TLT offers several resources to help you successfully organize and manage grades in your course and avoid potential end-of-semester problems. For individual assistance, schedule a consultation.

Self-Paced Teaching Resources

In response to evolving needs, TLT and the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) partnered to create the Flexible and Resilient Teaching website to share an assortment of instructional resources, like these self-enroll Moodle courses that you can complete at your own pace:

Virtual Maker Hub Orientations

Introduce your students to the Maker Hub and the wide array of innovative, free resources it offers for their class assignments, research and personal projects. Schedule a virtual orientation or start with a one-on-one consultation to create a custom activity that meets your specific learning objectives. Email makerhub@elon.edu with questions.
