Welcome to a snow-delayed version of the elite Tech Tips blog. This week we have important information for Outlook.

Changing font size in Microsoft Outlook Calendar

Do you find yourself squinting to read the appointments you’ve set up on your calendar?Do you sometimes think something starts at the wrong time because it is just too small to tell? You need to change your Outlook Calendar font!

When viewing your Calendar in Microsoft Outlook, click the View button at the top of the screen and then highlight Current View.Click Customize Current View and then click the Other Settings… button in the dialog box that appears.A new dialog box appears. In the top half, you can change the font size of the time or your actual appointments in the Day or Week view, and in the bottom half, you can change the font size for the Monthly view.

When you are printing out your Calendar, there is an unfortunate bug in Outlook. When you change the font in Outlook, the text is still small when you print it out.If you change the font to 72 in your Outlook, the text grows, but only to about a size 12 font.

If you are trying to print off your calendar and make it look more professional or just have a different look, you can download the Outlook Calendar Printing Assistant at the Microsoft Support website, or by just clicking here. The software is free, courtesy of Microsoft, and just takes a few minutes to download and install. On that site, click the Download button and follow the site’s instructions for installation.

Quickly Lookup Contacts

When creating a new email, or forwarding a message, you can quickly enter the recipient. Instead of pressing To: and searching through your address book, you can simply type the first name, surname or username (the bit before the @ symbol). After moving to the next box or beginning the message, Outlook will attempt to look up the contact. If the entry changes to the full name, as per your address book, then it has found it. If it changes to have a red line under it, then there is more than one entry that matches it or it can’t find the contact. Click on the Check Names button in the ribbon, and a dialog box will open to help you find the correct email address either in Elon’s online directory or in your own address book. If you can’t find the correct person, type the email address you want and/or add it to your Contacts.

That’s it for this week!Until next week,
