Zoom Cloud Meetings app displayed on a cell phoneInformation Technology (IT) recently added Zoom web conferencing to the growing list of technology tools and services offered at Elon.

Available to faculty, staff and students, the popular service offers a host of features, including easy access, a custom look and feel, HD video and voice for online meetings, virtual backgrounds, private and group chat, cloud recording and the highly-coveted option of meeting breakout sessions.

New this week: Zoom and Moodle are now linked. With this update, instructors have the option to add recurring virtual class meetings to their courses for easy student access. Check out videos in this Elon TLT YouTube playlist (also linked below) for help adding Zoom to your course.

Explore Key Features

Schedule a Zoom meeting from any device for up to 500 participants, whether on campus or remote. Review our guide to get started. If you previously created a free account using your Elon email address, simply transfer your account to unlock more features, like those noted below.

Secure Access

Safely log in using your email username and password. Security enhancements like default passwords and waiting rooms, help to reduce the threat of unwanted disruptions during your class sessions and meetings.

Schedule Meetings in Outlook

With the Zoom for Outlook add-in you can conveniently schedule or update existing meetings directly on your calendar.

Record to the Cloud

Capture your next lecture with confidence and free up space on your device by recording to the cloud. To share your video, email a link to participants or select individuals or upload the video to your Moodle course.

Built-In Collaboration & Accessibility

Use the chat to distribute related materials, simultaneously share your screen with colleagues to compare notes and enable closed captioning to help students better understand and focus on course content.

Learn more about these and other Zoom features before your next meeting. Need help? Visit the IT Self-Service Portal to report an issue, call the Technology Service Desk at (336) 278-5200 or chat with staff.
