When I became a Crier

 

When I realized how much my family had an impact on me, I never knew that I was capable of such strong emotions. I wanted to share this story so that people that study abroad know that it is okay to let yourself feel sad sometimes. I now realize that this is all part of the process and that if you don’t let yourself experience these emotions, you can never grow emotionally and personally.

Hiking Mount Batur

This was a unique experience that I had hiking up a volcano in absolute darkness in Bali until we reached the summit for sunrise. I was proud of this accomplishment and saw it as both a symbolic experience and a constant humbling reminder. It taught me to stay in the moment, appreciate nature’s beauty and reminded me of the importance of getting out of my comfort zone to grow.

Losing My Phone

 

I was in full-blown panic mode and ended up calling the police which makes no sense. By the end, the person was planning on returning my phone the whole time, which I reacted to the situation as if I was dealing with a thief. But in reality, this man was trying to help me the whole time. It made me reflect on the danish culture and how trusting the community in their culture can be.
