ENDING HUNGER

PSA Draft

Andrea Peters

My PSA video was created as a campaign for the American-based organization, “No Kid Hungry”. It is intended to highlight three key characteristics of the American middle/upper class. Firstly, the overwhelming distractions of American culture. We as a society place so much importance on material wealth that it is easy to forget about the possibility of sharing with those in need. The example used of being “given” $100 takes away the argument against sharing because of technicalities such as having “earned” the money. I gave people a free (figurative) $100 to do with whatever they wish- and as seen they choose to buy frivolous things time and time again. Yet when the option to donate was suggested, every participant responded positively. This goes to show that people want to help, and are willing to do so. Then finally, when asked if they knew how to go about donating, or even where to start, they “had no idea”. These are all important questions for us to keep in mind- the video presented works to answer them and inspire action.
