Jackie Allred was born and raised on Nantucket Island in MA, a small island 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod. She attended and graduated from Elon College in 1994 with a B.S. in Leisure Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration. She worked for 17 years in the claims department of an auto insurance company before joining Elon in August of 2014 as the Administrative Assistant for the Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Campus Life. Outside of her office duties she is also an active member of the Elon community as an alumnae through her work as a member of the Historic Alumni Association.
During challenging points in life, it can feel like we are running a race without taking moments to rest and reflect. For Jackie, she has encountered hard times that have forced her to take a step back and thoughtfully consider what she needs to stay resilient. By comparing her own difficult personal experiences to transition zones; a space where runners can pause throughout a race, Jackie reflects on the importance of supporting yourself and pushing through even the toughest of times.
