The NC Afterschool Corps is a team of AmeriCorps VISTA members who serve with a college or community-based organization to build the capacity of afterschool programs that serve low-income children and families. The Corps includes full-year members and Summer Associates.
This application is for our SUMMER ASSOCIATES PROGRAM. Summer Associates are short-term AmeriCorps VISTA members who will serve for 9 weeks (June 11 – August 10) during the summer to support the work of a summer learning program for local kids. VISTA Summer Associates can do capacity-building work (like curriculum development, fundraising and grant-writing, and event planning) AND direct service work (supervising children, serving snacks, or leading lessons and activities). These are great positions for college students on summer break who want to MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Please note: becoming a Summer Associate is a selective process, and we have limited positions available at each site.
We anticipate placing VISTA Summer Associates at the following host organizations:
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater High Point
- BUMP: The Triangle
- East Carolina University – Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement
- High Point Leap
- Lumbee Tribe of NC – Boys & Girls Clubs
- Pfeiffer University – Francis Center for Servant Leadership
