Wingate University, a private residential university with a liberal arts core located near Charlotte, North Carolina, seeks a Director to develop and implement the University’s community engaged learning initiatives. This full-time, twelve-month position is primarily responsible for implementing, guiding, and assessing W’Engage, Wingate’s sophomore, curricular, community engagement seminar which includes domestic travel (our QEP initiative). The Director will also further community engaged learning and scholarship at Wingate by performing the following duties, among others: (1) assist faculty members with developing community engagement experiences for existing courses, (2) collaborate and build relationship with students, faculty and community partners to expand community engaged learning opportunities for undergraduates, and (3) administer community engagement grants. The Director will report to the Dean of Academic Enrichment Programs. Master’s Degree in a relevant field required. Candidates should have previous experience working with undergraduates, faculty and community partners, developing and/or teaching community engaged courses (preferably in a liberal art academic setting), and program administration. Demonstrated understanding of principles and practices of engaged pedagogies and/or experiential education is preferred.
