Program Director, Community Engagement

The Program Director for Community Engagement will manage and coordinate all community engagement and community-based learning programs for Wellesley College. This position plays a key role in connecting with students to cultivate a culture of community engagement and community-based learning within and beyond Wellesley’s campus. Through the implementation of a new framework for helping students integrate their self discovery with societal needs, this Program Director will partner closely with community leaders, campus partners, and the newly formed College Career Mentors. This position will oversee a program that includes short-term community engagement projects, integrated community-based learning programs, Alternative Breaks, grant funding (for travel / transportation, Federal Work Study, and community engagement opportunities), and advising of community engagement-related student organizations. This role will serve as an advisor, facilitator, project manager, event planner, and instructor to students, colleagues and community partners. Through strong coordination and strategic planning, the person in this role will work collaboratively to grow community based-learning and community engagement efforts at the College, finding new opportunities to more fully integrate community engagement into the curricular and co-curricular experience of all students.

The Program Manager for Community Engagement will provide coordination and student advising for many aspects of the community engagement program for Wellesley College. This is a full time, 12 month, one year term appointment with possibility of extension. Reporting to the Program Director for Community Engagement, this position plays a key role in administering many of the crucial day to day activities of the community engagement program and supporting students as they consider, participate in and grow from various community engagement experiences. In coordination with the Program Director for Community Engagement, this position will administer Alternative Breaks, student funding opportunities (including the community engagement, Federal Work Study program, our community engagement transportation program and our community engagement grants program), and community engagement events at Wellesley, including Day to Make a Difference. The Program Manager will also work with a team of student interns in the planning and execution of community engagement activities. This individual will join the Community Engagement team and the Center for Work and Service during a time of growth and innovation, having the opportunity to contribute as a thought partner in expanding this program.
