Program Manager, National Service Programs, The Bonner Foundation/Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement, the College of New Jersey

The Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement is responsible for mobilizing faculty, students and staff to help sustain and advance the communities in which we live; in other words, to find mission-consistent ways to improve the quality of life for all. It cultivates the common ground that exists between the educational and civic missions of the College and the needs of non-profit organizations and neighborhoods. It does so by creating teaching and learning opportunities that simultaneously build the capacity of TCNJ students and these groups and communities. As a result, students become more knowledgeable, skilled and civic minded-while community partners gain additional resources to effectuate positive change.

The Program Manager is the lead staff member for the National Bonner AmeriCorps Program, the New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps Program, and the New Jersey Bonner VISTA Fellows Program. The Program Manager is responsible for serving as TCNJ’s liaison to the Corporation for National and Community Service and the New Jersey State Commission on National and Community Service. The Program Manager is responsible for providing consultation, technical assistance, and administrative oversight to colleges and community-based organizations participating in the National Bonner AmeriCorps Program, the New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps Program and the New Jersey Bonner VISTA Fellows Program. This position is also responsible for grant writing and reporting to the Corporation for National and Community Service and the New Jersey State Commission on National and Community Service. The Program Manager is responsible for fiscal oversight of the aforementioned National Service programs. Additionally, the Program Manager is responsible for coordinating training and other supportive structures for Members participating in the New Jersey Bonner AmeriCorps Program and the New Jersey Bonner VISTA Fellows Program.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  •Bachelors degree required.

•Two or more years of program management experience with a non-profit organization inclusive of grant writing and fiscal management.

•Excellent oral and written communication skills.

•Ability to be flexible when working with diverse constituencies.

•Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time.

•Proficient public speaker.

•Experience in event planning and coordination.

•Computer proficiency, email and Internet usage, and willingness to learn customized web-based reporting software.

Preferred Qualifications include:  •Two or more years of experience managing AmeriCorps programs.

•Experience as a Bonner student or running a Bonner Program.

•Experience working in a higher education environment.

The starting annual salary for this position will range from $37,500 to $42,500, commensurable with education and experience. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and prescription, as well as generous sick and vacation leave.
