WCU students taking the LEAD 346 course “Civic Engagement and Leadership in the Local Community” recently helped provide disaster recovery assistance in Staten Island, New York. The students worked with the New York Says Thank You Foundation to rebuild homes for first responders, providing a combined 400 hours of disaster recovery work. Through education, service or research projects, students taking this course draw on history, psychology, political science, sociology, etc. to promote ethical leadership and civic engagement in the community.
