Presidents Spring Meeting, February 2014

Every semester, the CFL hosts the Presidents Meeting, a dinner for leaders of student organizations. The spring 2014 meeting took place this past week, luckily before all of the snow! Our Org Development Directors Dan Murphy and Alex Hunter provided information about resources for the leaders and led a panel discussion.

Student leaders at Elon include presidents of academic, social, religious, service and Greek organizations.

Student leaders include presidents of academic, social, religious, service and Greek organizations, to name a few.

“The Presidents Spring Meeting was a huge success this year,” said Alex. “The student leaders of our school were supplied with various resources we hope they take back to their organizations. The question panel also provided an excellent source of information regarding funding and transition pointers. All in all, the dinner went very well, and we can’t wait until next year!”

The CFL would like to thank the impressive number of students who attended the dinner and the members of our panel who gave great advice!

The CFL was very impressed by the number of students who were able to attend the Presidents Dinner.

First Fellows Forum

First year Leadership Fellows.

First year Leadership Fellows

The start of a new year is a time for Elon students to dream big and set ambitious, lofty goals for the semester without being overwhelmed by the realities of school assignments, hours of work, and various meetings for extracurricular organizations. At the first Fellows Forum of the year, this year’s Leadership Fellows were reminded that no dreams are too bold after listening to the compelling story of Gladys Hadley, a resident of Graham, NC who overcame racial and socioeconomic obstacles to graduate University of Chapel Hill, receive a Rhodes Scholarship, and travel the world before returning back to Alamance County to work in education. Ms. Hadley’s leadership journey required her to aggressively utilize all of her resources, including her bombastic personality as well as the many friends she met throughout her life. She learned to take advantage of every opportunity available, whether that meant backpacking and canoeing through lakes on the Canadian-Minnesota border for a summer or pursuing an internship in the Office of the Mayor of Los Angeles the summer of the 1984 Olympics.
