We’ve gone to our fair share of castles during this trip. And each one I stand there and I don’t really understand how these structures are still standing and wonder what it must have been like to live in. Honestly, even these far reaching ideas of castles and ballrooms fascinate me but none of them have compared to Dunluce Castle. Not that necessarily it’s a competition because it seems unfair to pit beautiful pieces of crumbling architectural mansions against one another, but if it was Dunluce would win. The castle sits on a cliff looking over a looming sea as if daring to fall in, which consequently many parts of it have over the centuries. The massive magnificence is nearly indescribable but I will feeble attempt. I walked over the grounds and found myself standing in a small-enclosed brick room with one single window. I craned my head to see what view the window offered to be confronted with one of the most picturesque scenes I’ve ever encountered. And I wish I could do it justice but since my writing skills fail to articulate the unreal beauty of such stunning land just imagine a sea scattered with cliffs and a castle in the bets kind of ruins.
