Day 1. Limerick

img_0185We arrived in Ireland! Wooh! Though we all wished we had more sleep since we landed at what would be 2 am in America, we all fought through our lack of sleep to travel to Blarney Castle, kiss the Blarney stone, and make it back to Limerick to explore the town.
Blarney Castle was our first destination after landing at Shannon airport (well besides the toilets and coffee shop). Once we were off the coach, we walked up the 120 stairs in the castle to kiss the Blarney stone to receive eloquence and persuasiveness! Blarney was beautiful and huge! There is so much land on the property and it is so diverse. There was a poison garden, fern garden, pasture land, a waterfall, and all sorts of beautiful trees. It was gorgeous and a picture couldn’t contain all of its beauty.
After having a wonderful lunch we headed back onto the coach to take a two hour nap to Limerick. Once arriving in Limerick, we didn’t take a break, instead we all headed to O’Connell Street (the main street) to explore.
It was a long first day and we all couldn’t wait for our heads to hit our pillows, but it was a great first day and we were all so happy to have arrived in the beautiful country of Ireland.
